producer's statement & vision
My nephew Aaron first wrote this story at the age of 16 exploring the concept of what one utilizes once they capture the prey during a hunt. He surmised at even that age, one does not waste what is captured. Everything from the skin, to the bone, to the tendon to the blood has it's place in nourishing our existence in some way, shape or form.

Since then, he's expanded the idea which encompasses not just a yearning to feed the unsatisfied longing of a man coping with loss, but how the times of the day, can allow us all, here in humanity can force us to lose our way.

I remember my days as a corporate employee. Every time we celebrated a birthday, standing around munching cake, how many time did the conversation wander into discussing what we cooked, what we smelled cooking, or the next restaurant we want to try.
It appears that food is the only weapon that we as humans feel belong to us. We control what we want to eat and how we're going feel as we are doing it. Even on death row, the person about walk that 'green mile' gets to choose what they want to eat as a final meal.
We may not be able to control the time of day we eat but we ultimately decide what will have our complete attention to relish and what we consume merely to stay alive.
Therefore, when someone weaponizes our basic right to fuel our bodies, we ask questions and for many of us, our anxiety increases as we wonder: "what is it that we can control? what happens when the one we love, becomes controlling by threatening how we nourish our bodies? how do we cope? do we surrender, or fight? when we win the war what happens? do we become as monstrous as the ones who have victimized us?" Should we turn the tables and seize our right to consume what we want, when we want and how we want?

It's not a difficult leap from abused to abuser: Everyday, jpegs of someone uploading their plate of food, on social media, of announcements of weight loss, weight gain, food, eating disorders, feeding tubes fill the images we see on television and online. Images, we can't avoid though we may try. It may not impact us at all but for some of us it just may consume us.

This is why I feel BON APPETIT explores themes of loss, hunger, grief and resilience. It does so in a way that feels both deeply personal and universally relatable. Stories like this remind us of the power cinema has to bring people together and help us see ourselves—and each other—more clearly. Bon Appetit embraces the mission I established when I founded Angelic Star: to engage, inspire, uplift and to heal.
As producer, I invite you to help transform an idea into a living, breathing film. We have the right creative team.
We now need the resources in place to support support this vision. We are bringing together a passionate group of filmmakers who believe strongly in the impact this story can have.
This project represents the kind of filmmaking that independent cinema thrives on: intimate storytelling, bold creative voices, and a commitment to authenticity. Every contribution to this film helps create an opportunity for artists to collaborate and for a meaningful story to reach audiences.
We are incredibly grateful for the community of supporters who help make independent film possible. Your support is not only helping us produce this film, but also helping sustain a culture of storytelling that values creativity, diversity of voices, and the power of shared human experiences.
Thank you for being part of bringing Bon Appetit to life.
